The First "Wives" series, Basketball Wives aired on April 11, 2010. There are currently five different versions of the series airing at various times throughout the year; the shows follow women in Miami, Los Angeles, Dallas, New York, and also Arizona.

On March 14, 2011 VH1 premiered Love & Hip Hop which is currently airing its second season. Mob Wives was filming in late 2010 and brought to VH1 to premiere on April 17, 2011 and has since been renewed for a season 2 and has been set for a premiere date which is January 1, 2012. Following a few months later was Basketball Wives: LA which debuted August 29, 2011 is currently on hiatus however it has been renewed for a second season.Baseball Wives first season premiered on November 30, 2011 and is currently airing. There has NOT been any other words on anymore series added to the franchise.

All of the series have the name "wives" at the end except Love & Hip Hop which follows 6 women connected to the world of hip hop. Love and Hip Hop was created by Jim Ackerman and Mona Scott with the original premise following the life of Jim Jones and his family, however later the idea was restructured to focus on Jim's girlfriend Chrissy and other girls somehow involved with the hip-hop community, through performing or by their relationships. Love & Hip Hop does not have the same name as the other series but it is in the same grouping as the other series. Love & Hip Hop had 30 minutes episodes for season 1 and got raised to one hour starting season 2.

Mob Wives was created and produced by Jennifer Graziano who is also the sister of the shows main character Renee Graziano. Jennifer created the show because she felt like she wanted people to see how these four women had to struggle with out husbands, and fathers and that the ladies are leading a life of their own and making big things for themselves.

Basketball Wives, Football Wives, and Basketball Wives: LA are all produced by Shaunie O'Neal former wife of retired basketball player ShaQ O'Neal.

Baseball Wives is NOT produced by Shaunie O'Neal surprisingly since she is the one who made the show that led up to all the other series. Baseball Wives is produced by Shed Media. Executive producing for Shed Media are Nick Emmerson, Jennifer O’Connell, Alex Demyanenko and Ross Breitenbach. Executive producing for VH1 are Jeff Olde, Jill Holmes and Tom Huffman.

There has been a note on the VH1 website that season 2 of Mob Wives will debut January 1, 2012, with a new cast member Ramona Rizzo. Also, there will be a first spin off of the series called *Mob Wives: Chicago which will air Spring 2012.

The franchise is suppose to be related to The Real Housewives.
